Who are First Responders?
Caerphilly Borough First Responders are volunteers, we donate our spare time to attend appropriate 999 calls and provide first hand emergency care to people in our community.
We are not a replacement for the ambulance service but are a vital link in the chain of survival. We are trained and supported by the Welsh Ambulance Service to administer basic first aid skills, oxygen therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of a defibrillator.
How do we respond?
When a 999 call is made, First Responders are alerted by the Welsh Ambulance Service control centre and we are sent to certain types of calls at the same time as an ambulance so we can provide essential care until the Rapid Response Vehicle or ambulance arrives.
The Caerphilly Borough currently has four responding groups. Click on a responding group at the top of the page or the map to visit the website of the responder group in your area.
